Eve-o watch: Speakers Corner III

More correspondence relayed from the Jita Park Speakers Corner from the last few days as the campaigning continues:

Meanwhile, CCP Greyscale has posted a most interesting dev blog concerning the upcoming Empyrean Age expansion, all about factional warfare plus an all new region of Empire space! :o

Eve-o watch: Speakers Corner II

The Jita Park Speakers Corner continues to offer debate on many a subject between candidates, players and of course each other. Here are a few more examples of my own posts as of late:

More BRUCE brutality, CCP defines CSM

bruce fight 2For much of the last week I'd been reading about fleets of both BOB and Pandemic Legion having fun in Fountain at BRUCE's expense. Thinking back to when AXE had its fill about six weeks ago, I had looked forward to the opportunity for another round with the BRUCEs myself.

Today it took a few hours of trying, but in the end it finally happened again. At about 0200 Eve time, a BOB-led mixed fleet of 100 jumped into at least 120 BRUCE mostly in short-range BSs, at the 9-V gate in PNQY.

For me it was much like my earlier battle with BRUCE but even bigger, and running a lot longer this time round too: well over an hour. With 250+ in local, lag more than played its part as response times bordered on the silly, and yes, I died again too, but not before taking a few of them with me. GF all!

Meanwhile as the voting continues, CCP Xhagen has posted a new dev blog summarising how the CSM will work, once candidates are elected. Links to past PDFs containing more detail on the CSM processes are also included.

Eve-o watch: Speakers Corner

With the Jita Park Speakers Corner section of the forums newly established, many CSM candidates are taking full opportunity to state their case on a variety of issues put to them by the playerbase. Here's a few examples of my own answers to several questions recently put forward:

Voting now open!

CCP have finally opened the poll booths for the players to cast their CSM votes.

Please exercise your right to vote if you haven't done so already. I fear that my greatest enemy in my campaign is in fact the same as that of all the other candidates: voter apathy.

The CSM can hardly be called a representative body if candidates are elected by only a minority of voters. This is your chance to have a say in the future direction of Eve, so take it with both hands. ♥

Benifesto #1, audio discussion online

It's been a long time coming, but at last, The Benifesto is complete. My number one issue - that of communication from CCP to the playerbase - is discussed.

Also, yesterday I took part in a voluntary discussion on TeamSpeak between a selection of CSM candidates. You can click here to download and listen to the discussion, but be warned, it's fairly long; about 90 minutes. :D

TL;DR campaign summary, Benifesto #2

In response to concerns about how much reading is required on the part of the voters to try and cover all the candidates, tonight I have set up a single page summary of my CSM campaign, simply entitled TL;DR. If you only ever read one page on this website, this should probably be it.

At the same time, CCP have finally set up a section of the official game forums dedicated to the CSM election. Click here to reach my new Q&A thread.

Finally, issue #2 in The Benifesto is also now online. Laaaaag...

The stories behind the nicknames

So it seems at the moment that I have not one but two nicknames. One for Ben and the other for the real me.

The "wild man" RL nickname is a legacy from my radio days. During my time on the air I was never much of a comedian; whenever I was in tandem with somebody else it was always their responsibility to crack the jokes and my responsibility to react. I was the straight guy, and this was typified one Monday morning when this (paraphrased) discussion took place between my co-host and I:

Me: Morning mate, how was your weekend?
Him: Great! I watched the footy, went out Saturday night, had a few fantas too many, can't remember much after that so it was probably awesome. And you?
Me: Oh, you know, I stayed at home and watched Star Trek.
Him: ...
Him: You are a wild, wild man.

And it was all true. I'd had people attempt to tag me with other nicknames I could use on air, but this was the one that eventually stuck.

Meanwhile, my Eve CEO (Steel Rat) has seen fit to grant me the title of - among other things - "killjoy". This is the result of the discussion of several ideas for the future of DDC and AXE on IRC about a month ago, many of which I disagreed with, much to the chagrin of the boss:

<Benneh> but that's me, Ben "killjoy" Derindar
<Murphy> lol
<SteelRat> he's got a new title now :P

The point to all of this is to demonstrate my belief in simply doing what's required at all times. Also, while I do have interests of my own and friends of my own, I am quite prepared to raise issues that aren't necessarily in my own best interests or in those of my friends. I may not be qualified to speak on every topic brought to the CSM, but I'll certainly pass such topics on to others who are should the need arise.

Benifesto double-shot, eve-o watch

Yes indeedy: both issues #4 and #3 in The Benifesto are now online. Meanwhile, my thoughts on a few other issues as discussed over the last two weeks on eve-o:
